Description

This professional development course supports university lecturers, researchers, doctoral candi-dates, and professional staff in developing inclusive teaching practices for students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD). Through ten expert-led seminar sessions, participants will gain an up-to-date understanding of adult SLD profiles, current national and institutional guidelines, diagnos-tic and certification procedures, emotional and cognitive factors influencing learning, effective study strategies, accessible course design, digital inclusion, AI-supported teaching, and the edu-cational use of mind maps and concept maps. Delivered through recorded seminars, presenta-tion materials, and online resources, the course promotes flexible, equitable, and student-centred teaching practices that enhance learning opportunities for all students.

Learning objectives / expected outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
• understand the characteristics and learning profiles of university students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD);
• interpret the national and institutional frameworks governing inclusion and support for students with SLD in higher education;
• recognise the cognitive and emotional factors that influence learning and academic success;
• apply evidence-informed strategies to design accessible and inclusive teaching, learning materials, and assessment practices;
• integrate digital technologies, assistive tools, and AI-supported approaches to enhance student participation and learning;
• foster more flexible, equitable, and student-centred learning environments.
