How to TAP your own lecture – students’ perspectives on teaching and learning
ACROSS Teacher Training Academy
We believe in an educational future without borders.
Description
How do students actually experience your teaching—and how can their perspectives meaningfully affect your practice? This short workshop introduces the Teaching Analysis Poll (TAP) as a qualitative mid-term evaluation method that goes beyond traditional paper-and-pencil feedback.
Unlike standard evaluations, TAP invites students to reflect not only on the instructor’s teaching but also on their own learning processes and the broader context of the course. This generates richer, more nuanced insights and opens up a dialogical space between students and teachers.
Participants will be introduced to the method, experience key elements in practice, and explore ways to adapt TAP to their own teaching contexts. The workshop highlights how direct student feedback can support targeted improvements, foster realistic self-assessment, and strengthen communication in the classroom. Designed for university teachers at all levels of experience, this interactive session combines input, hands-on exploration, and discussion—offering concrete inspiration for enhancing teaching and learning in higher education.
