Description

The course synthesizes the theoretical, normative and methodological framework of intercultural education in higher education and advances models and tools for optimizing the university curriculum, in order to develop students\' intercultural competences. These types of competences are approached, in turn, as cognitive-axiological resources for self-training of social behavior and civic awareness, desirable for active European citizenship. Education for European citizenship integrates multidisciplinary research data, values and methodology of several educational dimensions, within an integrative cognitive system, operationalized in lifelong education, for the crystallization of elements of social and intercultural awareness. The conceptual framework is used in the development of a taxonomic system of intercultural competences desirable for students and teachers, and innovative methodological approaches are used in course units aimed at developing intercultural learning capacities, with an impact on affirming the self-management competencies of the personal development curriculum in the field of interculturalism. The thematic units address: 1. Multidimensional conceptual analyses in the field of intercultural education and intercultural curriculum 2. Analysis of the intercultural curriculum, from the perspective of education for global citizenship and the objectives of education for sustainable development and international solidarity 3. Curricular approach to intercultural processes 4. Models of intercultural curriculum operationalizable in the European space
