ACROSS students’ fair day 2025
Across Atomic Learning Unit
We believe in an educational future without borders.
ALU Description
Atomic Learning Units (ALUs) are short, focused learning experiences that build practical, future-ready skills. Each targets a single outcome and delivers high-impact knowledge in 25–90 minutes. ALUs can be taken individually or combined into micro-credential courses or parts of degree programmes, letting you learn at your own pace and tailor your studies to your goals.
Atomic Learning Units are short learning experiences designed to help you quickly develop practical, future-oriented skills. Each ALU focuses on a single, clearly defined learning outcome and delivers high-impact knowledge in a compact format.
An ALU typically lasts 25-90 minutes and can be taken on its own or combined with other ALUs to build micro-credential courses or parts of degree programmes. This means you can learn at your own pace and shape your studies according to your interests and career goals.
ALUs are open to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students, as well as learners interested in lifelong learning and upskilling. They are interactive, learner-centred, and strongly connected to real-world challenges. Many are co-developed and co-delivered by universities, industry, and public institutions to ensure relevance beyond the classroom.
Whether you want to:
- gain new competences quickly,
- try a topic before committing to a full course,
- support your academic or professional development, or
- collect learning experiences across borders through in-person, online or hybrid modes.
